Maroon Bells with Orange Sneezeweed
This photo was selected by the nationally renowned landscape photographer John Fielder as the winner of the 'scenic' category for the 2005 Denver Flower and Garden Show sponsored by Mike's Camera. The following is a description of the photo in John Fielder's words (April 2, 2005):
"Even though the scene of the Maroon Bells as seen from Maroon Lake is somewhat of a cliché photo, this image is unique (emphasis added). I've not seen orange sneezeweed before as foreground. The yellow is a wonderful complement to the blue sky, and the yellow silhouettes conspicuously against the blue lake. The diagonal lines of the stems, dark ridges, and the diagonal created between biggest flower and the peaks all create tension by fighting symmetrical balance, which is a good thing. The sense of moment, the sunrise adds to the scene. Well done!"

Spider Web on Grass with Dew
"The vibrant greens against the blue/gray water/web are luscious. The 'form' of the grasses is conspicuous. The moisture on the web creates a sense of 'moment.' Though there is very little depth in the scene, it's the pattern, color and moisture that make this a unique image. Well done!"
